As we move more and more into the school year, everyone has started to settle in to a routine. This is a great feeling, but we wanted to take a few minutes to work through some of the lingering technical difficulties that are still driving people crazy. PLEASE STAND BY......
You log in to Zoom, but your teacher isn't there - Don't panic! There are a couple reasons why this could happen. First, you need to make sure that you are joining the class at the beginning of class. We have instructed our teachers to log out after about 30 minutes due to bandwidth limitations in the home, so if you are trying to log in late to a class - you may have missed the class. Next, we have created safeguards for our Zoom sessions so only Encore students can log in. If you are trying to access your class using a personal email rather than your school email, you will not be allowed in. Finally, sometimes our teachers have technical connectivity issues too. If this happens, you can catch the lesson on Google classroom by the end of the day.
I am having trouble logging in to encorestudent to access my class curriculum - Don't panic! This is largely because students are trying to use their full email address to log in. You must use your encorestudent email account name, all of the letters before the @ symbol. Personal accounts tied in to encorestudent will be purged this weekend and the classes will be locked. Make sure that you plan ahead and transfer any and all work to your encorestudent account before this weekend.
I am having trouble logging in to Aeries - Don't panic! The biggest thing that we are running across with Aeries log in is that passwords have changed. For parents and for students, if you are having trouble accessing Aeries, start with the troubleshooting in Aeries titled "Forgot Password."
I called the front desk and they don't know my Google classroom code - Don't panic! Your teacher will be able to give you the codes for the Google classroom for your class. Many times, teachers have multiple Google classrooms, so our front desk does not have all of those codes (there are about 180 of them). If you do not have the Google classroom codes, ask your teachers when you meet in their class.
I don't have any information - Don't panic! What we have learned over the last two weeks with students feeling like they are lost without any information is that they have not checked their encorestudent.com email. Students need to check their encorestudent email every day to make sure they are in the loop with updates and other pertinent information.
Other information - COVID-19
California Governor's office releases an update to COVID-19 every Tuesday. We have been watching this update each week like the snow day report. San Bernardino was poised to move into red this week so we were very excited. Unfortunately, our county has taken a slight backslide and we now only qualify in purple. This means that the timeline will start over again. We will wait to see what the update will be next Tuesday. In the meantime - Encore will continue with Distance Learning
